    The Black Death
    In 1342 'The Black Death' outbreak was brought to Europe. This was a disease that is carried by fleas. This disease spread through out all of Europe, and killed about 25 million people. After the spread of 'The Black Death' ceased, apporoximately one-third tf the population was dead.

    First Guns
    In 1347, the first guns appear in Eurpoe. The Eurpoeans used the battles and attacks. Guns helped improve the European's war tactics, by having "advanced weapons" such as guns. Withought guns, the Europeans would not have been able to win as many battles so fast and efficently.

    The Astrolabe
    In 1390, there was a book written by Geoffrey Chaucer on how use and construct the astrolabe. The Astrolabe was an instrument for navagating the stars. This book would later be very helpful to astronomers. The same man also wrote a book called "The Canterbury Tales."

    Map of the world - Found
    In 1406, the lost map of the world was found once again. This map of the world was drawn in the second century by the geographer named Ptolomey. It was rediscovered in western Europe, and became the best existing map of the world. This map also mskes Columbus believe that you can sail to Asia from Europe by sailing west.

    Asian ship enters the Atlantic Ocean
    In 1420, the first Asian ship ever entered the Atlantic Ocean. It entered by rounding the Cape of good Hope and coming from the back which made it very difficult because of the currents. Also, the first caravels are built and used.

    The Guttenberg Bible is printed
    In 1440, the first Guttenberg Bible was printed on a printing process. This printing process ueses movable type This invention allowed books to be printed to the public for a cheaper price. Since books were less expensive, the level of knowledge began to spread faster that ever in history.

    The first auction of black slaves takes place in Portugal
    In 1941, the first slave auction for black African Americans took place in Portugal. It was a public affair, instead of private dealings between slave owners, and marks a trend that would continue for centuries. At around the same time, the Catholic heirarchy was meeting in the Council of Florence.

    Navagation by stars is improved
    In 1465, the way of navagating by stars is greatly improved. Astrolabes were used more efficiently and also more often since they had more knowledge of how to use them. Also, sextants and other navigation devices were used more frequently and more efficently. These devices made it easier to locate the longitude and also the latitude.

    Columbus discovers the West Indies and learns about the compass
    In 1492, Columbus discovers the West Indies that is in the ew World. Columbus also finds out more information about the compass. He learns that the compass will hange direction slightly if the longitude changes. After seven centuries pass, the last of the Moslems are driven away from Spanish land, and Leonardo Da Vinci draws out a new plan for a flying mechine.

    Tobacco used as Medicine
    In 1493, Columbus discovers that Native American's used tobacco as a medicine. The Native American's took the plants' leaves annd crushed them then placed them on the wound or it was made into a liquid so it could be swallowed easily.

    In 1493, Columbus discovers what he believes is a large part of Asia. Later he finds that it is not connected to Asia, but it is it's own land. He had found America and discovered indians which he named "indios" which would later be translated into Indians.
