    George Washington was our first president of the United States and since he was the first president he made up new government laws that would protect and make the U.S more powerful. He has established the judiciary act and made an executive branch also. His cabinet members are Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson.

    Crongress has created the executive departments which are the department of state, department of war, and department of treasury. Washington has chosen capable people to do a good job and he elected Alexader Hamilton as secretary of treasury, Thomas Jefferson as Secretary of State, and Henry Knox as general of the military.

    Most whiskey producers were farmers and the reason they came to sell whiskey was that originally they were selling corn but corn was too heavy to carry around so they made the corn into whiskey. Hamilton saw that this was a way for farmers to make money so he made a excersie tax that would fine the manufactured whiskey and the farmers were mad. They have refused to pay the tax and even threatened to move away from the union. Hamilton and Washington had went up and battle against them.

    On April 22, Washington stated that the U.S would no longer take part in a war between France and Britian. The military was still too small and weak to be able to ally with Britain or France.

    The cotton gin was made by a man named Eli Whitney. Eli whitney was an inventor and he demonstrated on how to use a gun. The cotton gin is a machine that separates the seed from cotton and by using this machine it was a lot faster to produce cotton and sell.

Ironically , Hamilton convinced congress to vote for Jefferson. ( Hamilton didn't like Burr but also didn't like Jefferson.)

    The federalist Marbury was almost as the the justice of the peace of district Columbia. Marbury and several other people were chosen to the government on the last days of Jon Adams presidency. The last minute chosen was never finalized. James Madison was to deliver the documents but refused. The court stopped ordering Madison and hand the message to Marbury. The court ruled that it was illegal for Madison to do and the case was denied. favored authority and short term is not handing the note

    The Louisiana purchase expanded the land but it also lead to many problems. The problem was that nowhere in the constitution does it say that they can use the money to expand land. Also this goes against his strict interpretation of the constitution and a limited federal government which increased. But the good thing is that by purchasing more land he would make the yeoman republic grow.

    The man who made the Missouri compromise is Henry clay. He decided that Maine would be a free state and Missouri as a slave state. When this compromise was passed there was made a 36, 30 line which meant anything in the south was a slave state and anything in the north was a free state.

    Jackson has won the popular vote but no majority electoral votes. Jackson had won 99 votes and John Quincy Adams with 84. But when the electoral votes went to the House of Representatives Adam won. Jefferson denied that Adams won so Jefferson had told everyone that he would be the better leader. Then Jefferson got new voters and this time he had gotten the popular vote and the electoral votes.

    The Cherokees fought the Indian removal act and the Cherokees were forced to leave their village and their land. They want to live and die here where their ancestors have died and lived. The place that the Americans brought them was where had no resources of what they needed to survive and also other tribes were there too.

    Samuel Worcester lived on Cherokee land within the state of Georgia. According to Georgia laws a person must have a license and take an oath of allegiance before living on United States land. He was not a resident and so he got arrested. But the final results are that Georgia did not have the rights to remove a family and that was a violation of his contituional rights.

    worcester a Cherokee was forced out of his land.The state government said that Georgia has no right to force someone out of their land.The ruling was that they favored Worcester because they have violated his fourteen amendments rights.They favored more equality because since its his property he has the right to be upset and they violated his rghts,to get his rights they favored with him.The short term is him being forced to leave his home and the long term:Georgia admitting that it's their land

( competing against eachother )The northerners made their goods more appealing by putting taxes on British goods. Then people would choose the northern goods because British goods were cheaper but tax was very high and the northern goods were just expensive.     After decarling freedom from Mexico, Texas had become the 28th state in the United States. Other states wanted Texas to be a slave state while others like the north didn't want Texas to be a slave state. Because of this comflict they almost didn't allow Texas to become a state but eventually happened. John Tyler has led this by having Texas be a state in the United States.

    Wilmot proviso agreed that California, Utah, and Mexico would be closed to slavey forever. The northerners were angry because by adding more slave territory then it would give the southerners more advantage in voting and increase skates. The southerners were angry because it reduces their power of having slaves and they thought slavery was their property.

    The president that was elected during this time was James k Polk and he thought the United States should have manifest destiny ( to have more land or expand the land ) . This war happened by having border issues with Texas and Mexico. James said that Texas should be annexed but the Mexican government said that if Texas were annexed then this would lead to war. In the end they went to war but finally they made a treaty called treaty of Guadalupe hidalgo.

    The gold was discovered by James Marshall at sutters mill and the people who dig for gold were called “forty niners”. A lot have people from different places in the world come here to find riches and gold. Some people were from China, Australia, Mexico, and Europe.

    The compromise of 1850 was organized by Henry Clay because there were still some problems with the south and north about slaves. They agreed to have California as a free state and Texas as a slave state . Also with New Mexico and Utah a slave state by popular sovereignty. California is finally let into the United States also.

    There was a lot of problems that led to the title bleeding Kansas. The voters in Kansas can vote whether they want slavey or not. Other people who didn't even come from Kansas came and voted. The final decision was Kansas to have slaves and this led to violence. The violence was that they blew up hotels in Lawrence, set fire in the governors house, smashed printing pres, and vandalized homes. Also Jon brown was leading all this.

The Kansas Nebraska bill was introduced by Stephen Douglas that would allow all territories to be decided by popularly sovereignty

    Dred Scott was born into slavery and was a property of Dr. Emerson. Dr. Emerson died and since he died Dred Scott was now considered a free man. He sued his wife and asked the court to be sent free because of the Missouri compromise line.But Sandford's lawyer said that he cannot be a citizen.The ruling was to dred Scott a slave even though they didn't support all of Taneys opinions.The courts favored more hierarchy and the short term is the ruling and the long term is him continued being a slave

    As president Lincoln wanted to suspend the Habeus Corpus and wins with a popular vote. He was more rooted for North because he was more of manufactured and factories person. He is commander in chief in the military. Also Lincoln is the 16th president of the United States. Lastly Lincoln goal was to preserve the union.

They are arguing if shaves should be in those territories but the south who moves into states that saves are not allowed then their slaves would be set free. Georigia, Florida, Alabama, missippi, Texas, and Louisiana seceded( removed ). Lincoln has said this secession was unconstitutional.

Lincoln wanted to suspend the habeus corpus but in Article 1 the president does not have the power to suspend the habeus corpus.Lincoln wanted to do this because he was interested in arresting confederates like political figures. Like military leaders, spies before anything bad happens.

    Then that Freedom will be recognized by the us government and United States military. Also U.S government will decide which states are in rebellion ( if you stay in the confederacy then your slaves will be set free

    Lee had invaded the north and was trying to defeat the union army but the union army sent him to withdraw. The battle took three days. The outcome is that the confederates won and the war resulted in many deaths

    This school sponsored a newspaper where students can be authors of the newspaper. Mr. Reynolds the school principles found two articles and did not publish them in the newspaper. Cathy Kuhlmeier said that it violated her first amendment rights. The ruling was that the principle doing that was correct and since its a sponsored newspaper the schools has the rights. They valued order and authority. Short term: taking the article out. Long term: students getting punished.

    Christopher Eckhardt made a plan to show support for true in Vietnam. They wore armbands and any student would be asked to remove or be suspended for wearing the armband. The parents sued the school of freedom of speech. The ruling was that since the students were on school ground it's by the school rules that have to be followed. They valued more on authority because the school has the power and the short term is them wearing armbands and the long term is being punished for wearing them.

    Miranda was arrested for raping an 18 year old girl. He was inerterrogated by two police officers for two hours with no food. Miranda did not know that he didn't have to tell or answer the polices questions. His fifth amendment rights were violated of remaining silent. The ruling was that his case was overturned. The short term is that him having the right to answer the questions or not and the long term is him going to prison for 20-30 years. The values are that they value freedom.

    Mathew Fraiser made a speech and it was a very inappropriate speech. He was sent home for making that speech. But his freedom of speech was violated. The courts ruling was the school doing the right thing to him being sent home. They favored more order because they have the right to punished them if it's going to effect education in school. The long term was him being suspended and the short term was making the descision of punishing him or saying the speech.

    Joseph Fredrick held up a banner with the message “Bongs hit for Jesus”a reference to smoking marijuana. Fredrick was suspended for 10 days and the principle said that he promoted the use of illegal drugs. This violated his freedom of speech. The ruling was that this caused disturbance and it was favored with the principle. Since its school property that means school rules. The short term was him holding up the banner and the long term was being suspended for 10 days.

    David Riley was pulled over because his car registration was expired. The police had found two guns and his phone discovered text messages and videos, so the police took his phone away. They found something on his phone and it lead to a shooting. The police need to get a warrant to search his phone but did not have one. The short term impact was him not getting privacy or the police not getting a warrant. The long term was him beind in prison. Values represented were individualism.
