    Holocaust Denial describes attempts to go against the fact of the Nazi Genocide of European Jews. Holocast deniers are constantly conjuring up claims, and distortions on how the Holocaust was an enormous hoax. Holocaust denial is generally motivated by anti-semitic feelings. This timeline highlights key events of Holocaust Denial, and how accusations have evolved over time.

    Heinrichs Speech
    In a speech to SS Generals at Poznan, Heinrich Himmler the Rank leader, called for the mass murder of the Jews to be kept seecret, and to never be recorded. This was an early attempt, and revelation of hiding what the nazis knew and what people know today about the killing of 6 million Jews.
  • Liberty Lobby Founded

    Liberty Lobby Founded
    Willis Carto founds the Liberty Lobby in Washington D.C. The Liberty Lobby advocated for a racialy pure America, and pointed fingers at the Jews for the Problems at home. This eventually led to the publishing of Holocaust denial litterature in 1969.

    Gerald L.K Smith
    Gerald Smith, a prominent holocaust denier, publishes his work The Cross and the Flag. The work claimed that the six million jews that were claimed to have lost their lives in the holocaust, actually all immigrated to the United States During the war. (despite American records)
  • NorthWestern University Professor Butz

    NorthWestern University Professor Butz
    Northwestern University engineering professor Arthur R. Butz publishes The Hoax of the Twentieth Century. A book against the presumed extermination of Jews in Europe. Butz was the first Hlocaust denier to back up his false claim with academic rigor.
  • David Irvings Hilers War

    David Irvings Hilers War
    David Irving publishes a book called Hitler's War, arguing that Hitler neither ordered nor condoned the Nazi policy of the genocide of the European Jews. Just another distortion of the truth, but this time even more so Irving tries to use scholarly methods to support his ludicrous thesis.

    Canadian Court Case
    A Canadian court convicts public school teacher James Keegstra with the charge of “willfully promoting hatred against an identifiable group” for promoting Holocaust denial and other antisemitic views to his social studies students.

    Israel LAW
    On July 8, the Israeli parliament passes a law criminalizing denial of the Holocaust.

    Moroccan-Swedish writer Ahmed Rami begins broadcasting on Radio Islam, based in Sweden. The station describes the Holocaust as a Zionist/Jewish claim. Radio Islam follows with postin more anti-semitic texts on its website.

    The French government enacts the Gayssot Law which declares that questioning the scale or existence of crimes against humanity is a criminal offense. This is significant because it was the first European statute explicitly outlawing denial of the Holocaust.

    United Nations
    On January 26, the United Nations adopts a resolution condemning denial of the Holocaust. The General Assembly declares that denial is “tantamount to approval of genocide in all its forms.”
