    Moshe the beatle returns with stories of his experience, that no one believes.

  • the jews were taken from the ghettos

    they were removed from the ghettos and placed in trains. (80 to each car)

  • last day of Passover

    the police burts into the homes of Elie's jewish community. they set new laws and made them wear yellow stars.

  • the jews discover a tall chimney

    the crematorium has flames coming out of the chimney

  • they arive in Auschwitz

    the train stops at the concentration camp of Auschwitz

  • Dr. Mengele

    elie meets dr.mengele

  • gone forever

    this is the last time elie will see his mother and tzipora

  • prayer of the dead

    after ariving in the camp, scared of the unknown they recite the prayer of the dead

  • Leaving Auschwitz

    Elie and his father had spent 3 weeks in the camp

  • Buna

    Elie and his father arive at the next camp

  • Elie visits the dentist

    elie post-pons the tooth pulling by lying to the dentist

    madame Schachter yells about the car that she sees a fire

    the tooth is given to Franek, for Elie's fathers sake

    the guards are scared/worried they might get bombed

    elie witnessed his first exicution of a young boy from warsaw

    the camp gathers for prayers

  • elie has started to feel completly betrayed by god

    he doesnt see a point in worshiping or praying anymore

    his father didnt pass the first selection and is sent tto another examination and tries to give elie an inheritance

    they were only there for 3 days. now they headed to Buchenwald

  • Evacuate

    elie is in the clinic for his foot and hears of the evacuation. him and his father decide to leave after a hint from someone saying everyone left would be shot immediatly

  • knews of liberation

    the knews of this strucks them. what if they would have stayed?

  • on the marches an idea clouds elie's mind

    the idea of death. how he could give up so easily. his fathers presence keeps him from carrying it out.

  • Gleiwitz

    the next camp the prisoners walked to after Buna

  • elie hears a familiar voice

    juliek, a jew who played the violin in the band a Buna. Elie tries to help him from getting trampled

    100 men started out on the train and when arriving only 12 made it out

  • down to one

    elies father catches dysentary, and dies

  • death marches from buchenwald

    elie is scheduled to be one of the last groups to leave

  • liberation of buchenwald

    the remaining prisoners take control of the camp

  • last day

    elie leaves Buchenwald. he states he hadnt seen himself in a mirror since the ghettos and he barely recognizes himself when he found himself looking in one for the first time after liberation
