  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion
    It was a mini civil war between August 1786 to June 1787. Thousands of farmers were losing their lands and farms. This made the farmers rebel against the governement and they were criticizing the Articles of Confederation. This led the Articles to be renewed and changed for the better.
  • The 3/5 Compromise

    All adult whites and their children would be counted, but they did not know if they should add slaves to the population. The North said that slaves should not be counted but the South said that they should be counted. Eventually, they decided to count the entire slave population and multiply that number by 3/5.

  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    A United States purchased the Lousiana Territory from France. The land stretched from the Mississippi River to the Rockies. It is "the Western watershed of the Mississippi River."

  • Lewis and Clark

    Lewis and Clark
    Jefferson sent out Lewis and Clark to see what he purchased. They were looking for a water route for business and trade. Also, they wrote about the culture of the Native Americans they found. Their expedition ended in 1806.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    Battle of New Orleans
    The battle was a part of War of 1812. Andrew Jackson pulled together everyone he could find when the British attempted to take over New Orleans. The British did not expect to lose so they had brought a judge, a governor and a customs official with their invading force, indicating that they intended to settle in. The Americans ended up winning.
