This is important because it is the start of the man and the boys journey. -
the mom leaves the boy
The mom kills herself and doesn't even say by to the boy. This shows what the world has come to. -
The boy and the man see the "monster" in the lake.
This is significant becuse the reader gets a glimps of what the world is now like. -
The mirror on the cart.
When the man and the boy are on the road at the start, a description of the cart is given. One thing was the mirror on the cart. This shows that the man and the boy seem to trust no one, and there seems to be people out there that want to hurt him. -
gas station
the man and the boy come across a gas station and the boy dials the number of thier old home on the phone. This is important becuase it shows how the boy hangs on to the past. -
The man struck by lighnting
The boy and the man pass somebody struck by lightning. The man leaves him, but the boy wants to help the man and give him food. This shows that the boy really is good and wants to help. -
The man and the boy find his old home
this is important because the boy is really scared and wants to leave very badly, and this shows how he has a sense of what bad is coming. -
The bad guys
The man and the boy are woken up by people on the road and meet another man on the sde of the road. the man holds a knife to the boys throat and the man shoots him. This is ipmortant because this is the first time the father has killed somebody and shows how much he wants to protect the boy. -
coughing blood
this is important because it shows how bad the man's illness really is because he coughs up so much blood. -
The cellar
This is important because they find food. This is a change of luck and help them survive for a little bit longer. -
the cellar and babies
the man and the boy come across two very disturbing things. first they find a cellar full of people that are waiting to be eaten. Then they come across people roasting babies over a fire for food. this shows what the world has come to, and that the boy and the man have not turned to this so they are the good guys still. -
the coast
They make it to the coast and are disappontied. then they see the boat and find food and other useful things. -
the thief
The man and the boy loose their cart and then they find it has been stolen by somebdoy else. they take it back and then make him strip down and take his stuff. pretty much killing him. -
the arrow
the boy and the man are walking through the city, and the man gets shot in the leg with an arrow. This is important because it is like the final blow to the man. -
the man dies
this is important because the man finally dies and the boy is on his own and doesn't know what to do. -
the boy is found
this is important because the boy is picked up by someguy and is not killed and is saved. they also found other good guys.
