    Conflicts in France between Roman Catholics and Protestants. England funded Protestants and Spain funded Catholics. Led to the decline of order in France.

    Bartolomew’s Day Massacre

    A massacre of French Protestants in Paris instigated by Catherine de’ Medici. It was carried out by Roman Catholics citizens.
  • Edict of Nantes

    Granted Calvinist Protestants of France rights in the nation. It was signed by Henry IV. It was aimed to end the French wars of Religion.

    30 Years War

    A religious conflict fought mostly in Central Europe. It began as a battle between the Catholic and Protestant states. As the war went on, it became less about religion and more about who would rule Europe.
  • Treaty of Wesphalia

    Treaty that ended the 30 Years war. It gave Swiss independence of Australia and the Netherlands independence of Spain. Roman Catholic reconquest was vanished in Europe and Protestantism stayed.
