    The Petersburs-tasks for The Western European Union are incorporated in this treaty. These tasks includes humanitarian operations, rescue operations, peace keeping, forces to handle crisis and peace making.

    All passport control between Norway and the other 14 Schengen states comes to an end.
  • The agreement on expansion of EEC is signed and ready for ratification.

    The aggreement expans the EEC area to include the ten candidate countries Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia with their entrance in the EU.
  • EU is expanding, then also EEC, with ten new member-states to the biggest expansion in the history of EU.

  • Romania and Bulgaria become a member of EU and EEC

  • The Norwegian Labour party agree to apply their reservation right against the post-directive of EU.

  • Croatia becomes a member of EU.

  • The agreement on Croatia's incorporation in EEC takes effect.
