Magellan, a portugese explorer, attempted a daring and bold exploration. With 5 ships and 250 men he began his voyage, following the coast of south america until he found what would become the strait of magellan. He travelled through and out into the pacific, he eventually made it ot the philipinnes, but was killed there. Ultimately, only 1 ship with 18 crewmembers made it around the world.
