    In the year 1492, there was the first European to sail. The person who made this possible was the explorer named Christopher Columbus. He sailed all the way to the West Indies, although he was not looking for the Indies. Chris was looking for a new route to Asia, he wanted riches and fame for going there.

    1497 was the year that Italian, John Cabot found the first Northwest passage.That was a very big deal back then. He also, like Columbus was not searching for what he found, John was searching for Asia. After his voyage he ended up in present day Canada.

    This explorer was very interesting, in 1519 someone was the first person ever to circumnavigate the whole world.Thats not even the interesting part,his name was, he came from Spain, the interesting part is Magellan did this just for a challenge. He risked his life just for a challenge! I don’t know if this is just me but that is pretty amazing.

He ended up getting his money because in Mexico he had defeated the Aztecs, even though he had not killed off all of them, that was mostly the diseases he brought over

    1542 was an amazing year. In 1542 Hernando de Soto decided he wanted power so he led a full sized army throughout all of the Southeast. Hernando began leading his army in present day Arkansas.This took place about 50 years after Columbus discovered America, making the southeast very hard to travel through, because there was many people throughout the route.

    The year 1588 was a very big date. This date was almost the same as Magellan’s event, but Sir Francis Drake, this explorer had been killing and taking money of whoever passed his way, fighting mostly Spanish. When Drake made it around the world and got back to where he came from, England, then gave his money to queen of England, Queen Elizabeth.
