    When it became evident that this drought and famine were occurring and broadcast, in brought about International responses. Musicians and Artists recorded songs in response to this news. In July of 1985, a concert was organized to raise money and awareness. More than 400 million people worldwide watched these concerts.These concerts took place in London, Philadelphia, Sydney, The Hague and Moscow. The raised 150 million pounds and saved thousands of lives.

The public and musicians such as Bob Geldof and Bono were involved. Purely raising money to address the root causes of poverty, from charity to justice. These concerts were in UK, France, Germany, Italy, USA, Japan, Canada, South Africa and Russia.

(National Productive Safety Net Program). Reoccurring droughts and climate change in a region where poverty is widespread. Malnutrition is rising in children as well as, life threatening diarrhea. Prices for staple foods are too high for poor families.

    Since El Nino and it's effects in 2015-2016, 7.9 million people require emergency food assistance in Ethiopia. The drought in Somali and conflict in Sudan, Somalia, South Sudan, and Eritrea have caused an influx of refugees to Ethiopia (901,235 refugees).
