    ESE 601 Historical Timelines

The American with Disability Act, The Rehabilitation Act and The Assistive Technology Act are the Acts that I decided to put on my timeline because they are still relevant today for people with disabilities. The listed Acts are beneficial to people with disabilities of all ages and from a minor disability to a more severe disability.
  • Americans with Disability Act (AD)

    Employment (Title I)
This section of the Act forbids employers to discriminate against employees with a disability and enforces the right to have reasonable accommodations made based on the employee’s need. Such as raising the desk top for a person who uses a wheelchair.
  • The Assistive Technology Act

The purpose of the Act is to allow funding for individuals of all ages to be able to access assistive technology to aid them in increasing their daily living skills abilities at home, school, workplace and in the community. This act increased the awareness of assistive technology and its benefits to people with disabilities.
