  • Industry v.s Inferiority

    Industry v.s Inferiority
Alex received a gold star for his art work and the teacher displayed his art for the school to see in the main entrance. Now, Alex boasts about himself to others and says he is the best. In Erikson's 4th stage Industry v.s inferiority, it explains how kids can be directed to be egotistical or feel down about themselves. In this case Alex is feeling like he can be an artistical genius which is great but also can lead to the opposite of humbleness.
  • Adolescence

    Adolescence
Iris always wanted to go to church and when her friend, Bridget invited her to tag along Iris was thrilled. This is perceived as Erikson's Identity v.s Role Confusion stage. This stage is where adolescences such as Iris want to search for who they are and search for their beliefs, values and/or goals.
  • Intimacy v.s Isolation

    Intimacy v.s Isolation
Jessica is on a blind date hoping to meet the bachelor of her dreams. She longs for relationship with a person who wants to spend time together and share a commitment. In Erikson's 6th stage Intimacy v.s Isolation, adults try to find their mate to share life and possibly fill a void internally. Success with finding someone will lead to a successful relationship but being not successful can lead to loneliness.
