    The Election of 1800 consisted of many difficult and exhausting times for both the candidates and the House. Federalists John Adams and Charles C. Pickney ran against Democratic Republicans, Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr. After a very long and tiresome race, Thomas Jefferson finally won after the thirty-sixth vote.

  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    The Louisiana Purchase almost doubled the size of the United States which provided many benefits towards America. Livingston and Monroe had decided to take the French offer and sold Louisiana for 15 million dollars. On October 20, in 1803, the Senate approved the agreement which had also helped Napoleon find a way to pay for military supplies.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    Lewis and Clark Expedition
    Lewis, Clark, and their fellow explorers begin their journey near St. Louis on May 14, 1804. Around the beginning of 1805, the Expedition discovers Fort Mandan and decided to stay there for winter. After a difficult and breathtaking journey, the explorers had finally reached the bay of the Pacific Ocean on November 7, in 1805.

    The Embargo Act created a lot of controversy throughout the year of 1807. The president, Thomas Jefferson, had very high hopes and supported the Embargo Act, which some citizens both liked and disliked. The Embargo Act banned trade with all foreign countries, including France and Great Britain. Once Congress had passed this in 1807, it had caused merchants to lose large amounts of money and Northern states were also hit very hard.

    The Cumberland Road was the first ever road to be built by the federal government.Construction began in 1815, the road was enormous, it ran from Cumberland, Maryland, to Wheeling, Ohio. Eventually, it had reached all the way to Illinois.

    The American System was created by Henry Clay, an United States Representative who was from Kentucky. The system was intended to make the United States have a self-sufficient economy. This provided benefits such as a national bank and made trade easier.
  • Rush-Bagot Agreement

    Rush-Bagot Agreement
    The Rush-Bagot Agreement settled many problems and disputes that the United States had with Great Britain. It had limited power on the Great Lakes for the Unites States and British Canada. This had taken affect on April 28, 1818.
  • Adams-Onis Treaty

    Adams-Onis Treaty
    The Adams-Onis Treaty had also settled disputes and calmed things down, it had settled border problems with Spain and the United States. Due to this treaty, Spain was forced to give East Florida to the United States which had taken affect on April 28, 1818.

    The Convention of 1818 had become a huge event in history and during the time of 1818. The convention had set a border between the United States and Canada, it was set at 49 degrees north and went as far west as the Rocky Mountains. It had gotten signed on October 20, 1818.
  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    This plan was created once again by United States Representative, Henry Clay. The plan had settled Missouri's application for statehood which had three main conditions. They had stated that Missouri would enter the Union as a slave state, Maine would join the Union as a free state, keeping the number of slave and free states equal, and slavery would be banned in any new territories. After the plan was given out to Congress, they had passed it in 1820.

    The Gibbons v. Ogden case had both started and ended in 1824 and the case had caused the court to make very hard decisions. The decision was decided by the Supreme Court, they had decided, "That the states couldn't interfere with the power of Congress to regulate interstate commerce."

    The Election of 1824 lasted from October 26- December 2nd and consisted of candidates known as Andrew Jackson and John Quincy Adams. John Quincy Adams had won after the House decided to choose him. After he had won, Jackson and his supporters had made many accusations even though Jackson had won the most popular votes.

    The Erie Canal had taken about 8 years to complete and had gotten completed in 1825. The canal had ran all the way from Albany to Buffalo, New York, it had also provided many benefits for the people. Some benefits included that it allowed goods and the people to move between towns.

    The first Dictionary came into the world around 1828. It was created by a man named Noah Webster. who decided to name it "Webster's Dictionary." The first copy was only written in American, not British English.
  • Hudson River School

    Hudson River School
    The Hudson River School was one of the first ever schools and it had appeared in the 1830's. It is a very special structure because the artists created paintings that represented national pride. It had also showed appreciation of an American Landscape.
