    The Love Canal disaster is the event when the Niagara Falls was affected by the Hooker Chemical. The company had buried 21,000 tons of toxic industrial waste below the surface of the town. The residents began to notice bad odor and gas around their homes and started to get ill. Women also have miscarriages and have birth defects babies from getting affected by the toxic chemical. This event is important because it didn't only affect the people at that time. But also human's next generation

    the great smog of 1952
    London population was suffered by polluted fog everywhere. Because of the industrial releasing polluted air, 12,000 people died from living in the thick toxic smog. According to disasterium.com, "The smoke laced with sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and soot". This event is very important because it's one of the worst human action to the environment and to themselves. However, this also lead to new development and the event is there to remind people to not repeat the mistake.

    Pacific Gyre Garbage Patch
    The Pacific Gyre Garbage Patch is located in the central North of the pacific ocean where there was a huge marine debris collected for a long time. It was discovered in around 1985 and 1988. This event has caused many animal deaths. According to kinnelonconserves.net, " At least 267 different species were suffered from entanglement or ingestion" The weight of the garbage in total is 7 million ton which is twice the size of Texas. This event is very important because it destroy the marine life.

    The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill
    On March 24, 1989, The oil tanker Exxon Valdez had struck the reef which resulted the oil spill in the Prince William Sound, Alaska. According to www.disasterium.com, "Over 11 million gallons of oil spilled over nearly 500 miles polluting the coastline." Millions of birds are killed and also the other wildlife. Because of the event, 11,000 people joined in the clean up process. This event is important because of this one event, Alaskan beaches still remain polluted today.(can't get rid of oil)
  • Deep Water Horizon

    Deep Water Horizon
    There was an explosion and a sinking of the deep water Horizon oil in the Gulf of Mexico. Which is considered the largest accidental ocean spill in history. It was estimated that 3.19 million barrels of oil had leaked into Gulf. It had damaged the deep sea corals and other ecosystems too. This event is also causing many turtle and dolphins deaths. According to ocean.si.edu, "there's an averaged 63 dolphin deaths a year." This is important because it may lead to extinction of marine species.
