Native Americans during the time did not have a written language, they told all their stories orally. Many of the stories/myths were about the creation of the universe and humans and how they became being. Other stories included; fairy tales, lyrics, and chants. Some characteristics of Native American Lit. are a repetition of incidents, and nature and their sacred connection. Also, they valued rhythm in their literature. It added more dramatic effect, especially when orally told.
