    The first enslaved Africans arrive in North America at Jamestown by a Dutch ship. They were brought over to help with the production of lucrative crops such as tobacco.
  • Bay Psalm Book

    The first book printed in British North America is the Bay Psalm Book. It was considered a huge achievement as twenty years early was the Pilgrams' arrival at Plymouth. It contained metrical translations into English. None of them are used today.
  • Founding of Cape Town

    The Dutch found Cape Town on the southern tip of South Africa.
  • Salem Witch Trials

    The Salem Witch Trials were a series of trials that were started in 1692. 200 people were accused of witchcraft but only 20 were actually executed.
  • The Wonders of the Invisible World

    Cotton Mather publishes The Wonders of the Invisible World in defense of the Salem witch trials. He believed that witchcraft was indeed a real thing. He saw witches as tools of the devil in Satan's battle.

    Peter the Great, czar of Russia, died in 1725. He died to an health issue.

    The Great Awakening is a religious revival that started in 1739 but didn't end until 1742.

    Catherine the Great becomes the empress of Russia. Russia grew larger and much powerful under her.

    Thomas Paine wrote a pamphlet called Common Sense. Common Sense was a pamphlet that challenged the authority of the British. It was used for the case of independence.

    In 1787, the US Constitution was approved. It was made for a stronger federal government.
