First created by Jonathan Gay in the mid 1990s, SmartSketch is one of the first available programs that supported graphic creations. His company was purchased by Macromedia Inc. in 1996, followed by Adobe in 2005, which changed the course of website design as it introduced Adobe Flash. This program allowed animation across all websites, but eventually was shut down due to its inability to be used across websites without flash plugin and its outdated design.
