Elizabeth Piper Ensley was born in the Carribbeans in 1848.

When Elizabeth was 19, she studied in Germany and France.

She moved to Boston in the 1860,and helped create a libary and became a teacher.

In 1882, Elizabeth married Howell N. Ensley. The couple moved to Washington,D.C.,Where they were associated with Howard University, the flagship college founded and attended primarly by African Americans

After moving to Washington,ten years later they moved to Denver.

In Denver, Elizabeth continued working for Womens Civil Right. Later, she became the denver reporter for the Womens Era,a newsletter of the Colored Women's Association.

Elizabeth founded Colorado Equal Suffrge Association,the Colored Womens Republican Club,and the Colorado Federation of Womens Clubs.

Elizabeth died in 1919, becase she was old.

Today,Elizabeth has in exhibit downtown called Women of the West.
