Nick Freestone's apartment in London is bombed and he is forced to go to live with his Dad in Burma -

Hannible comes into the villoage and sees Nick. He crushes Nick's ribs. -
Third
Nick's father brings Nick ona Christmas ride but then tells him that he is actually trying to get Nick out of the country. -
Fourth
They get caught by the Japanese and are brought back to the Hawk's Nest which the Japanese are occupying. -
Fifth
Nick is forced to work on the plantation. He is beaten if he does anything wrong. -
Sixth
Nick studies Japanese culture and language in his free time. -
Seventh
HIlltop tells Nick that he will help Nick to escape. -
Eight
Hilltop tells Nick that it is time to escape with Mya. They go into secret passageways. -
Nineth
The search for Mya and Nick is called off and they can leave the passages. -
Tenth
They dress like Monks so they do not get recaptured. When they run out of food, they go to a village for offerings. -
Eleventh
Nick, Mya and Hilltop help Nick's father and Indaw escape the camps that they were held in by the Japanese. -
twelveth
The group get caught trying to leave the country but Hannible kills the soilders. -
Thirteenth
Nick and Mya are finally sent to Australia where they live in a station house. -
Fourteenth
Nick finally sees his mother, Bernard, Indaw and his father again on his 18th birthday. -
Fifteenth
Nick and Mya receive news that the war is over.
