*Note this did not happen on January 1st* In 2003 The Washington Post, took a survey of Egyptian people asking whether or not they thought democracy is a good thing. 98.5% of people thought that it is. They also asked if people thought democracy was a better form of government than any other form of government. 95.75% of people thought that it was.

Egyptians approve the constitution by referendum, with 63.8 percent voting in favour.

Approximately 100 000 people protest against Morsi on the 2nd anniversary of the start of the anti-Mubarak rise in rebillion.

A mob of Muslims, attacks the Coptic Orthodox Church (the main cathedral) during a funeral for four Christians killed the day before on the 6th of April. Morsi is blamed by Pope Tawadros II for failing to protect the church building.

An Egyption court orders the Muslim Brotherhood to be banned and its assets to be confiscated.

In a statement issued by Ban Ki Moon's spokesperson said "The Secretary General continues to underscore the need for political inclusion, full respect for human rights, including of those in prison, and the basis of law for a peacful, democradic transition."

The United States shows disapproval to the anti-Brotherhood crackdown by suspending the delivery of tanks, helicopters and fighter jets to Egypt's military.
