    Film Strip Viewers gave teachers the ability to add visual components to instruction.
  • Hand-Held Calculator

    Hand-Held Calculator
    Hand-Held Calculators gave students the ability to work out hard equations with ease and have an instant way to check their work.
  • Scantron

    Scantron
    Scantron Testing became the only way to test large numbers of students. Scantron Readers were placed in the staff work room and mailroom for easy use.
  • CD-ROM Drive

    CD-ROM Drive
    Easy audio equipment to play a variety of resources for students in a variety of curriculums.
  • Learning Technology Centers

    Learning Technology Centers
    Established in 1995, the Learning Technology Centers assist the Illinois State Board of Education with statewide initiatives by supporting Illinois school districts with hardware and software infrastructure, as well as classroom and teacher readiness for integrating technology in the classroom and curriculum.
  • School Technlogy Revolving Loan Program (STRLP)

    School Technlogy Revolving Loan Program (STRLP)
    The School Technology Revolving Loan Program (STRLP) is a 3 year loan with 2 percent interest rate. Since the inception of the program in fiscal year 1999, over $85 million (614 loans) have been loaned to qualified or approved school districts. Loan applications are received from June 1 to Dec. 1 every year. Decisions on loans can be made in October, December and March of each year, depending on the number of applicants and available funding.

    The competent teacher will have, and continually develop, the knowledge and skills in learning technologies to be able to appropriately and responsibly use tools, resources, processes, and systems to retrieve, assess and evaluate information from various media. The competent teacher will use that knowledge, along with the necessary skills and information, to assist Illinois learners in solving problems, communicating clearly, making informed decisions, and in constructing new knowledge.

    Computers in Every Classroom
    Computers were placed in every classroom. This allowed teachers to use a variety of resources with out going to the computer lab.
  • iClicker

    iClicker
    iClickers became popular on College Campuses, but still used through many K-12 schools. They allowed for quick Formative Assesment on the spot with out the mess of handing out papers. Each iClicker was assigned to the student holding it. Responses were instantly graded and recorded.

    The purpose of this Section is to inform and protect
    students from inappropriate or illegal communications and
    solicitation and to encourage school districts to provide
    education about Internet threats and risks, including without
    limitation child predators, fraud, and other dangers.

    Projectors and screens were installed in every classroom. This allowed for teachers to stop using Overhead Projectors as they could now read documents already on the computer.

    Apple poducts became readily available giving teachers another outlet to go with their projectors.
  • Technology Plan

    Technology Plan
    Since no federal or state programs require an approved technology plan, the Illinois State Board of Education has determined that it will release schools from the technology plan mandate. To that end, ISBE will no longer review or approve technology plans on a yearly basis.
