    Year 1 Implementation for Digital Citizenship

    Year 1 the team will begin to educate the staff, students and parents about positive and negative impacts of social media and that it is our responsibility to help our students responsibility thrive in world of media and technology. The focus is to educate the staff and start to create the culture of Digital Citizenship. The objectives by the end of the first year will be to create a plan to meet with parents and educate our students on the responsibilities of social media.

    Ideally I would like to have certificated, classified, parents and students on the committee. The committee will help make decisions on best ways to help transform our culture and education our students and parents. They will meet once a month to talk about concerns and plan for next steps.

    Survey open to students staff and parents

    This survey will give us a baseline of what the students, staff and parents know about social media and areas of focus. The committee will review the information to help guide lessons and instruction.

    The presentation will explain the mission and vision of Digital Citizenship. I will also include the "why" and the urgency of making this a part of our culture. I will present the expectations and timelines of how we will start to roll this our for the 2017-2018 school year but it will continue into next year and ongoing.

    Lessons for students

    The students will be taught through their advisory classes which is 20 min everyday. It will be reinforced in every class and expectations will be reviewed every time before a student uses a computer.

    The committee will review progress in the form lessons, data from discipline related to social media, and surveys taken by students, staff and parents. This will also be presented to the staff at the December staff meeting.

    Survey for progress

    Students, staff and parents will take another survey to help monitor progress toward knowledge of digital citizenship. The results will be presented at the Feb committee meeting and presented at the staff meeting in Feb.

    Using data from discipline and surveys I will present on the progress to the staff.

    Survey and meetings with committee and staff

    I will wrap up the year with a survey and present the information to the parents and staff. I will first meet with the committee and use the same data we used for the baseline to see if it has had any effect and changes we might need to make for next year.
