    Yugoslavia's Balkanization and Ethnic Cleansing

    After splitting from the USSR, Yugoslavia experienced many ethnic divisions which brought the country to a civil war and later to "balkanization". Yugoslavia split to form separate states, attempting to form a multinational state. The conflict persisted and many ethnic groups lost their lives. Later the region experienced an Ethnic Cleansing where minority ethnic groups were forcefully removed from the territory
