    (The only given date in the chapter was 1488 so please ignore the month and day!) Bartholomeu Dias became the first European to sail around Africa from the west coast to the east coast. He tried to listen to King John's orders when he told his ship captains to sail south around the tip of Africa and then northeast. He ended up finding a route to Asia.

Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian navigator, suspected that Columbus was wrong in thinking that he had reached Asia. In the late 1490s, Vespucci explored the coast of South America. He called it the "New World"

    Columbus and a crew of about 90 men set out from Spain n 3 small ships, the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. The first fleet visted the Canary Islands. Then, on September 6, it turned bravely west. He was in search of Asia.

    Columbus once again set sail. This time he had an impressive fleet of 17 ships with about 1,200 men aboard. He was still looking for ASIA, but he explored several islands in the West Indies, including Puerto Rico and Jamacia.

He was the first European to see the vast body of water from American shores. He intended to find new lands, and he did-sortof.

    I only got the year for this even so please ignore the month and day. "Ferdinand Magellan explored the Pacific Ocean and also gave it its name. Magellan strated from Spain in 1519 with 5 ships and 237 men. Magellan sailed across the Pacific and reached the Philippines, where he died" He had attempted to explore the Pacific Ocean and the new world.
