    Intertangling alliances dragged America back into a confrontation with Britain. despite America's desire to remain neutral, Britain's practice of Impressment forced America to go to war to retrieve her sailors
  • The Missouri Compromise

    1. Admitted Missouri to the Union as a slave state. 2.Admitted Maine as a free state 3.Split to rest of the Louisiana purchase between its north and south halves making the south all slave states and the north all free states.
  • New York completes the Erie Canal

    New York was able to complete a 350 mile long waterway that connected the great lakes to the Hudson river and allowed for the flourishing of trade.
  • Andrew Jackson enters office

    Andrew Jackson assumed the presidential office amidst a very controversial time in American history with the issue of slave states and free states which was only fueled by Jacksons confrontational nature.

    Samuel Morse is able to convince the government the use of a 40 mile telegraph line that connects Washington D.C. and Baltimore allowing for instant communication.

    The Mexican American War

    the Mexican American War was a war spurned on by the Americans new idea of Manifest destiny that promised them a glorious country from sea to shining sea. This included the poorly maintained Mexican territories of Texas, California, Utah, Nevada, and others. Attempted seizure of these sparked war between the two countries with American eventually coming out as the victor.

    Republican presidential candidate Abraham Lincoln is sworn into office giving the Republican party the foothold it needs to remove slavery from America. However, this election angered the southern states in favor of states rights.
