Drug addictions can start after multiple uses of drugs like alcohol, cigarettes, or opioids. An addiction is a brain disease that affects many brain circuits, thus leading to a hard recovery. Recovering is really hard as your body has been reliant on this substance for so long (Pg. 7). -
Causes of a Drug Addiction
Some who use drugs once or twice get addicted while others due. This is because of three things. Biology factors such as the persons genes. Environment factors like if they are constantly surrounded by drug users, they will more likely continue abusing the substance. Lastly development factors like when and where you start using drugs. The younger you are the easier it is for you to get addicted (Pg. 8). -
Treatments
Eventually some will seek for help. This can be really hard and there are not many good options for treatment. Some treatments include medicine and therapy (Pg. 8). -

Matt Damon is a famous actor who has been in many movies. He had faced an addiction to smoking. He had been smoking for a long time until he saw a picture of himself and he decided to quit. He did not like the image that he was putting out for himself. He eventually convinced one of his close friends to quit smoking too.
