Arriving at the ranch/bunkhouse
George and Lennie arrive at the ranch and meet the old man (Candy) who tells them that the boss was 'sore as hell' as he expected them last night. They get assigned beds and talk to Candy a bit. The boss comes to the bunkhouse and first meet George Milton and Lennie Small. They are told to work on Slim's team. George and Lennie meet the Boss' son
While George and Lennie are talking to Candy, the boss' son, Culry, walks in. Curly acting tough and trying to intimidate Lennie. George and Candy talk some more about Curly. We find out that Curly got married a few weeks before.

Curly's wife comes to the bunkhouse
George, Lennie and Candy are in the bunkhouse when a girl appears in the doorway (Curly's wife). She is very flirtatious and Lennie finds her very purty. George warns Lennie to stay away from her and not pay attention to her.
They both do not like it at the ranc
Curly's wife: full, rouged lips, wide spaced eyes, heavily made up, red fingernails, heavy curly hair. Cotton house dress and red mules, flirty, seems scared of her husband as she goes back to the house as soon as Slim says he's at home.
