  • Cable Communication Policy Act of 1984 (CCPA)

Cable Communication Policy Act of 1984 (CCPA)
    http://privacy.med.miami.edu/glossary/xd_ccpa.htm
I give this act an A+ because the cable companies must provide people with a written notice about privacy practice. Also, allowing subscribers to access information about him/herself. Subscribers have the right to bring legal action if requirements of the law are not followed.
  • Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986

Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986
    https://www.cdt.org/privacy/guide/protect/laws.php
I give this "Act" a "C" because websites will still ask for information without providing a private policy. But, other than that I would give it an A- because the are developing a bipartisan national privacy policy for the internet. By doing this the U.S. will know how many Americans care about their privacy.

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/02/23/we-can-t-wait-obama-administration-unveils-blueprint-privacy-bill-rights
This "Act" is an "A+" because consumers have the right to take care of personal data. Being responsible with your own personal data is good. Because, no one will have access to personal data and nothing will be changed
  • A.B. 1844 Social Media (2012)

    A.B. 1844 Social Media (2012)
    http://www.ncsl.org/research/telecommunications-and-information-technology/employer-access-to-social-media-passwords.aspx
I give this "Act" a "C+" because A.B. 1844 keeps employers requiring or requesting employee's or applicants user names and passwords for social media. This is a "C+" because a password can be obtained/cracked in anyway. But, it does make it more difficult for employers to get passwords and users from employee's and applicants.

    Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code § 22575 (2013 AB 370)
    http://www.ncsl.org/research/telecommunications-and-information-technology/state-laws-related-to-internet-privacy.aspx
I give this "Act" an "A+" because people will have to purchase written books. If they just take books without purchasing it they're stealing from the writter or taking it withou permission. This "Act" should be enforced strictly.
  • Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998
    https://www.cdt.org/privacy/guide/protect/laws.php
This Act is a "B+" because commercal sites have children inform their parents on the site they're on. This is great, because parents can keep track on websites their child is on. Without this websites can steal information and use it illegally.
  • Wireless Communication and Public Safety Act (1999)

Wireless Communication and Public Safety Act (1999)
    https://www.cdt.org/privacy/guide/protect/laws.php
I give this "Act" an "A+" because it allows people to contact law enforcers right away when needed. This is a good thing, because if there is danger around a person may be detained by the athorities. When help is needed just dial 3 numbers 911.
