Don Carlos Buell was born on March 23, 1818 in Lowell, Ohio.
He was a Union Major General that was known for being a highly capable organizer and executor. -

Don graduated at the prestigous and four year college United States Military Academy in West Point, New York in 1841.

April 25, 1846 – February 2, 1848 He helps with the Mexican - American War efforts.

He Becomes the brevert captian and assitant adjutant general.

He becomes a brevert major and assistant adjuant general.

The American Civil War
April 12, 1861 - May 9, 1896 -
He becomes a Liteutenant Colonel and Assistant Adjuant General.

Don is promoted to brigader general on May 17, 1861. He arrives in Washigton D.C to start training the Union Soliders. From that point on he help form the army of the republic. ( Army of Potomac.)

In November 1861, he succeeded Brig. Gen. William T. Sherman in command at Louisville.

He trains the Army of Ohio.

Don Carlos becomes a Major General.

Reinforcements from Gen. Buell and from Grant's own army arrived in the evening and turned the tide the next morning, when the Union commanders launched a counterattack along the entire line. The Confederates were forced to retreat from the bloodiest battle in United States history up to that time, ending their hopes that they could block the Union advance into northern Mississippi.

Don Carlos Buell resigns after he can not find muster any more volunteers to help him.

After the Civil War, he reitres from the military service and becomes the president of an iron company and a pension agent. He then later passes away at 80 years old.
