Donald Trump President
Many people were outraged when Donald Trump became president. There were also people who were excited, but to me the negative social media stood out more than the positive. It did not matter what social media site you were on people were angry. The tactics they used were trying to persuade others that they had voted incorrectly if they voted for him. There were videos of people beating up Trump supporters. -
Women's March on Washington
Women had a massive march on Washington to advocate for women's rights. This event had about 5 million participants. It is obvious that social media was used to gather all these people together. There is no way they just word of mouthed all the information to each other. Pretty much all major social media sites were used to show the protest as well as provide information on the protests. This event somewhat sparked the #metoo movement. -
National anthem protesting.
During 2017 some NFL players started protesting for black lives and police brutality during the national anthem by kneeling or other means of refusing to stand. These images and videos were all over any social media you were on as well as the news. Some people were for it, some were very against it. You could find opinions on both sides of the topic on any major social media site. -
Confederate statue take down
In Charlottesville Virginia a confederate statue was taken down. There was quite a ruckus that occurred because people felt passionately on both sides. There were videos of the ruckus all over any major social media. Both sides showed their pov and tried to convince the world of their opinion. One woman died during the violence and it was chaos. -
Kavanaugh
Judge Kavanaugh was under hot water during this time because there were claims that he had previously sexually assulted a woman a few years back. This went on for what seemed like forever. All over any social media platform there were many people for and against the judge. As per usual they would give their opinion and then try to convince the other side that their opinion was wrong. People on both sides were extremely passionate.
