Baptism Doesn't Exempt From Being Slave for Life
Slavory used to be based on which religion you were a part of. Christians used to not be allowed to be slaves for life. They could not because the king was Christian so they thought whoever was not Christian was an enemy to England. Now Christian Africans, Indians or mulattos aren't safe from slavory for life. Also it is the first sign of switching of discrimination of religion to discrimination of race.

No Punishment for Accidental Death of Slave
The Englishman didn't want to be punished for killing their slaves, so they made a law so that they couldn't be arrested. As a cherry on top, they referred the slaves as property for the first time. This shows that Englishman have little to no respect for their slaves.

Negro, Mulatto and Indian Slaves Are Now Real Estate
This is a huge step back for progress. Now slaves aren't even seen as people. They were seen as property before, but now the law actually recognizes them as real estate. This law really shows the accidental killing of slaves. It shows it by they would think no one would burn down their own house; so why would they kill their slave?
  • The Last Straw

    The Last Straw
Anthony started off doing well. He made a little niche in society for himself. Soon Englishmen slowly, but surely, destroyed all of Anthony's progress. The laws that were passed only became worse little by little. They only realized they went too far when it was too late. The slaves finally struck back in 1859. How can we be so sure that we aren't doing the same thing to a race today?
