He became a sucessful plantation owner. His plantation was located in Eastern Shore, Virginia. The planation had 250 acres of land. he had a family of 4 children, owned 2 of his own slaves, was baptized into the Anglican faith, had cattle and hogs, and grew corn and tobacco.
  • Overview (part 1)

In this timeline, it will be taking a look at the lives and Anthony Johnson, his family, and how life was for them. Anthony Johnson was considered as "Anthony The Negro". He was captured and sent to Luanda to be transported with the Dutch. He experinced a horrible journey across the Atlantic Ocean. He was on the ship so callled the Bautista. He was taken by pirates, hidden in Engalnd, and finally sent back to colonial Virginia. He was located in the Jamestown colony.
  • Anthony Aquires Land

    Anthony Aquires Land
Anthony can now auire land. This means that he is now more higher up in his social satus along with other black people. He can now provide for his family with a job, money, a place to live that is decent. Anthony Johnson probably feels a lot more confident about himself and his family. This young man has waited a long time to own his own land. He was very pleased with himself after this court case was passed.
  • Able To Take English Men To Court

Able To Take English Men To Court
In this event, Anthony Johnson can now take even English men to court. This was a huge accomplishment for Anthony Johnson and the blacks. Not only were they allowed to go to court, but they could take English men to court. Now they had a chance of winning and earning some of their rights back. Maybe now he could start becoming higher in his social status, and maybe even be given a little more respect.
  • No Negros Or Indians Could Buy Christian Severvants

No Negros Or Indians Could Buy Christian Severvants
This was a dissapointment to the blacks and Indians. Expecially Anthony Johnson. He had a farm to take care of. How was he supposed to run it and work it if he had no servants to do it for him. This was a downgrade for his family. The lagistlators knew that the number of blacks that could own land and was small at this time. So they took that advantage and they dissapointed the blacks and Indians.
  • Negros were no long allowed to serve in office

Negros were no long allowed to serve in office
This event would prevent the blacks from serving in office. This was a downgrade in many ways. For one, this was yet another job loss for the Africans. This would also band them from publis areas. Although, this would not effect the Africans that much becvause even if they did want to run for office, nobody would vote for him because everyone is discriminating them.
  • Africans Were Refered To As Property

Africans Were Refered To As Property
Now at this time, they were considered property. This was such a disgrace to Africans. They weren't even considered people anymore. Since they were "property" now, they probably were not allowed to own their land anymore, if they had any. This is because property cannot own property. They probably couldn't take anyone to court, or really do anything but work as a servant.
  • Conclusion (part 1)

Problems and situations continuously got worse for the Afican Americans from the point and on. They were still stuggling from the old problems, but now they were getting more and more problems on top of the old ones. The English men were twice as bad as they were before, and now they could barley do anything about it because of the little rights they had left.
  • conclusion (part 2)

Some of the Diminishing Progress that the Afican Americans had were, not being able to take English men to court, not being able to run in office anymore, and being considered as property. So now that you took a look at Anthony Johnson's life, what do you think about it? I bet you wouldn't of want to be in his shoes now would you? Next time you are being greedy, stop, and take a look at what you have, instead of what you dont have.
  • conclusion (part 3)

This make me think of the quote from Martin Luther King Jr, "Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."
