  • Hale holds Fletcher hostage

    Presumably to avoid a conflict with the police, Hale holds Susan hostage in order to gain leverage on Strathmore and bargain his way out of the problem. He ends up unconscious in Strathmore's office. Eventually, he dies at the hands of what seems to be himself, as a suicide.

  • Strathmore exposed

    It turns out, Hale is not North Dakota! There is, in reality, no North Dakota, Tankado made 'him' up to fool Strathmore. Digital Fortress is actually a virus disguised as an unbreakable algorithm, and Strathmore bypassed the virus filters in order to break this code. Strathmore also sent Becker to Spain on a suicide mission so he could claim Fletcher as his own, as he is in love with her. It was Strathmore who pushed Chartrukian and it was him who killed Hale.

  • TRANSLTR overheats

    TRANSLTR overheats and explodes; Strathmore dies and Fletcher barely makes it out alive- she then meets with the director of the NSA, Fontaine, and they, with the rest of the department, work to decipher the pass key (David was successful).

  • Digital Fortress aborted

    They decipher the pass key! All the government's secrets and data stored in the national database are safe! Fletcher and Becker save the day! They get married to each other! Happily Ever After!

  • TRANSLTR encounters a problem

    For the first time, TRANSLTR, an NSA supercomputer, works on breaking a code for over 12 hours (the computer had never spent more than 20 minutes cracking a code)- Susan Fletcher discovers that this is due to a new type of "unbreakable" code named Digital Fortress

  • Chartrukian discovers Digital Fortress

    Intern Phil Chartrukian discovers Digital Fortress and thinks it's a virus so he reports it to Strathmore. He then tries to stop TRANSLTR and the virus and ends up being pushed off a ledge to his death by an unknown assailant (Fletcher assumes it's Greg Hale, the man she thinks is North Dakota).

  • Becker encounters problems in Seville

    While TRANSLTR is encountering problems in the States, Becker is on a treasure hunt to try and find the pass key- a ring- in Seville. After chasing around several handlers of the ring, he encounters a bounty hunter

  • Ensei Tankado Dies

    Seville, Spain- Tankado dies of apparent heart failure

  • David Becker leaves for Seville

    Above the Atlantic- Becker's plane flies him to Seville to begin a mission given to him by NSA commander Trevor Strathmore
