    John Dight had bought Melbourne block 88 that contained 105218 square meters (26 acres) of land alongside the Yarra river, this cost him $779.94 (£481)

    John Dight already had a job, he was in the business of flour milling. He was working in a flour mill called Ceres near Campbell Town in NSW. He had told everyone he was leaving to travel to Port Phillip through the Sydney Herald.
