Greg has a sleepover with Rowley but Rowley is very annoying so he makes a challenge that whoever goes out in the middle of the night and writes their name on their treehouse wins and has to call the other person sir for the rest of his life. But Greg already has his name on the tree so he wins.

Gregs mom doesn't give greg money and says he has to earn it himself.

Greg tries to get money by shovelling peoples driveways, but the 1 person who says he'll pay. By the time he's done clearing the driveway, it's already piled up to about the same height so the man wouldnt give him money. He sprays his driveway with water and it clears his driveway but covers it with ice. The man falls and Greg has to pay $20.

Greg's dad doesn't let Greg put his student of the week sticker on the bumper so he gives it to Manny who puts right in the middle of the car and Greg has to try to take it off. He takes it off with a steel wool pad but it also takes the metal off. When his dad finds out, they trade the car in for a used minivan. And Greg asked for money on the giving tree.

They take away all the energy drinks and unhealthy foods like chocalate chip cookies and french fries etc.

He doesnt have enough money and he needs about $20.

Greg tries to sell his book then the comic book guy tells him its not Kenny Centazzo's signature and that it is completely worthless.

After he finds drummies he wants to make his own holiday bazaar with Rowley.

Greg and Rowley make their own newspaper and try to sell it and get ads in it.

It starts to rain and the poster boards are wrecked so they take them off and there are big green splotches on the wall a person yells at them so they run away.

The vice principle calls people down and the police are there. They also leave a unonimous tip box so anyone can leave an anonimous tip. Rowley puts a tip in and it says me and Greg heffley did it but didn't put his name. Greg gets called down to the office and has to clean up the splotches on the wall. When he gets home there was a note from the police and they said they would return.

They are trapped inside and the basement flodded and Greg and Rodrick have to share a room. Greg has to take care of Manny and feed him etc. The power goes out and they are running out of food. Greg's dad is at a hotel and is safe.

Manny broke their mom's glasses trying to do a magic trick that Greg showed him.

It turns out that manny cut the power so it was only for his room. He had a space heater tons of food and alot of other stuff, too.

It is Christmas day and they found the presents in garbage bags in the garage not under the tree. Greg goes to search for the money he requested from the giving tree he shovels the whole in front of the soup kitchen to find it because that's where he asked them to put it.Nothing was there but he was in the newspaper for shoveling in front of the soup kitchen. They also went to church in v-necks they got because they had no other clean clothes.
