    -Coos, makes gurgling sounds.
    -Tries to look at parents.
    -Turns head towards sounds.

    -Smiles spontaneously, especially at people.
    -Begins to babble.
    -Responds to affection.
    -Uses hands and eyes together, such as seeing a toy and reaching for it.
  • 6 months

    -Knows familiar faces and begins to know a stranger.
    -Responds to own name.
    -Brings things to mouth.
    -Begins to sit without support.
  • 9 months

    -Maybe be clingy with familiar adults.
    -Understands “no”
    -Plays peek-a-boo.
    -Pulls to stand.
  • 1 year

    -Shy or nervous around strangers.
    -Says “mama” and “dada” and exclamation like “uh-oh”
    -Explores things in different ways, like shaking & banging things
    -May stand alone

    -May have temper tantrums.
    -Says several single words.
    -Points to get the attention of others.
    -Walks alone.
  • 2 years

    -Copies others, especially adults and older children.
    -Says sentences with 2 to 4 words.
    -Begins to sort shapes and colors.
    -Begins to run.
  • 4 years

    -Plays “mom” and “dad”
    -Tells stories.
    -Understands the idea of counting.
    -Hops and stands on one foot up to 2 seconds.
  • 3 years

    -Takes turns in games.
    -Follows instructions with 2 or 3 steps.
    -Copies a circle with a pencil or crayon.
    -Runs easily.
  • 5 years

    5 years
    -Wants to be like friends.
    -Speaks very clearly.
    -Can print some letters or numbers.
    -Can use the toilet on their own.
