  • Benidorm

    In this year the mayor of the town asked general Franco to lift the ban on bikinis yo increase inbound tourism. Later on in 1966 the Alicante airport opened increasing Benidorm's inbound tourism by millions.
  • Cruise ships

    Cruise ships were introduced in mind to allow the customers to feel in a casual and comfort environment like they would on a general holiday but with the luxury of not leaving the cruise. This changed tourism due to the fact that "in 2014, 22.1 million passengers were cruising globally"
  • Introduction of Road Signs

    Traffic signs regulation were introduced and was used effectively since 1965. This means that the roads were safer and less congestion due to motorists knowing where the destination was.
  • Development of tourism act

    The act created tourist boards such as visit Britain, so the UK could advertise itself, this means more people would travel to the UK. This act also provided financial assistance to the tourist boards meaning they can improve their facilities.

    A tour operator called Clubmed proposed the idea to cruise liners offering an all inclusive holiday. John Issa began to open the first inclusive resorts for singers. Later on in the 90's it was adapted for the needs of couples and families. The affect on tourism, was that no extra chargers would be needed, meaning more people can afford it due to in some cases been cheaper option.
  • Lifting of currency restrictions

    Before the 1970's tourists were only allowed to take £50 out of the country per person, this enables tourists to take more money out meaning more money is spent abroad bringing more money into the local communities.
  • Teletext

    Teletext allowed you to book holidays whilst in your own home. Teletext allowed Ceefax to become the first Teletext site and was first used by the BBC. This allowed customers to book holidays away from travel agents leading to today where people ca book their holiday using their mobile phone.
  • Dubai

    Dubai decided to emerge as a major tourist destination, to bring in more income to the area. One of the most well known attraction is the Burj Al Arab the only hotel in the world with 7 stars
  • Road M40

    The M40 was completed between Oxford and Birmingham meaning that it is easier to travel from the midlands to around the capital. This means that more tourists are able to travel south much quicker and esier than previously.
  • Channel Tunnel

    The Channel Tunnel is 34.1 miles long, connecting the UK to France. The introduction of the Tunnel allows more tourists to travel between the countries with ease, and for a cheaper price, meaning tourists have more money to spend on their trip, meaning more money coming into the UK.
  • Trip Advisor

    The website launched to help people to choose the best hotel, flights, restaurants and attractions. In 2016, 280 million people use the website. This helps tourism due to the fact it allows people to see whats in the UK and then wish to travel to the destination, meaning more income comes into the companies
  • Boeing 787 Dreamliner

    The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is an American long haul twin engine jet airliner made by Boeing Commercial Airplanes this plane has variants seats 242-335 passengers in typical three class seating configurations. The 787's unparalleled fuel efficiency allows carriers to open new routes.
