    Migration from Ireland to U.S

    Within a 20 year timespan Richard Delphey was the first to Migrate to the United States. This could be due to (1845) a fungal disease called 'phytophthora infestans', or 'potato blight' struck and wiped out a third of the potato crop in Ireland. This was a disaster to the peasants who relied upon it.

  • The Irish Rebellion of 1798 (National)

    During the time when Irish rebels struggled to break free from Britain’s control of the country Philander Delphey lived in the same country it was happening in. Hoping to break free of British control, the Irish launched a violent—and ultimately unsuccessful—revolt in 1798.

  • Registration for WW1 (Global)

    One month after the United States entered World War I in 1917, President Woodrow Wilson signed the Selective Service Act, requiring men between 21 and 30 to register for the military one of those people being Chester Edward Delphy. Beginning July 20, 1917, using the serial number men were assigned when they registered, the first draftees were selected by lottery.

    Native Americans declared as official U.S citizens.

  • Water on Hopi Reservation (Local)

    I asked my grandpa, Tyler Polelonema, that he remembered the most vividly when living on the Hopi reservation and he shared that he remembered when his tribe got clean water brought to their reservation.

    In 1979, Ronald Delphy enlisted into the cold war and was given a two week relieve period which resulted in him going A-wall (Absent without official​ leave)

  • Great Recession (National)

    My parents Jon and Paula Delphy were able to purchase my childhood home for a very low price due to house prices falling

  • Opening of Sky City Cultural Center (Local)

    In 2008 the Acoma reservation opened up the Sky City Cultural Center which is a tourist location where visitors can learn about Acoma history & sign up for tours through the reservation. This has a huge impact on​ the money the tribe was receiving because not only did they make money from the tours but many artists including my family members are able to sell their art to tourists.

  • Flooding in Pueblo of Acoma (Local)

    This flooding that occurred which the Acoma reservation became victims of. This resulted in New Mexico suppling more than $1 million to fund emergency preparedness and damage repair for victims,
