Day of the Dead

    Preparations
On the first day of my Mexico trip, I watched familes set up Ofrendas, or Alters, which are decorated with candles, flowers, dishes, pictures of loves ones, and ceramic skulls. On this day, familes taught me how to make some popular dishes that are placed with the Ofrendas. Some of them were tamales, mole, and Pan de Muerto. Pan de Muerto is a sweet bread that is an essential for this holiday! Salt and Water were also put out as an essential. They are set to quench the thirst of the souls.

It is now my second day celebrating the Day of the Dead, and today is the celebration of children who have died. It is believed that the dead children will visit the Alters made for them! I hope they like the Pan de Muertos i prepared!

November 2 - All Saints Day
Today is the last day of the yearly celebration. Today is entitled for the adults that have passed. Familes will come together and enjoy picnics, gather at cemeteries and be with deceased loved ones, and a mirachi band will also be present. To end the celebration, fireworks are lit to remember every life that is no longer living.
