Darwins Voyage

  • Darwin's Recommendation

    Darwin receives a letter from his mentor offering a opportunity that he can't, and will not turn down. He was recommended to a two year voyage around the world. His father at first, rejected the consent and ordered him to find any man of "common sense" to say that accepting the offer was wise. After seeking advice, he came across his . uncle whom that it was wise of him to accept the offer. After re proposing the idea to his father, he finally got consent.
  • Darwin's Judgment Day

    After finally receiving consent from his father Darwin then receives bad news that his spot may be given to a "friend" of the captain. He then meets with the captain, expecting judgment, but not expecting what he got, kindness. The captain explained to him the complications of the voyage and with all respect Darwin understood. After the meeting, Darwin then found out that he might not get accepted because of the shape of his nose.
  • Darwin Begins His Voyage

    Darwin packs his things to join the voyage. The Eagle sets out for its two year voyage and Darwin immediately gets sick and it plagues him for what turns out to be a five year odyssey.
  • Island of St.Jago

    Darwins sickness included "dreary thoughts" while he landed on the volcanic island of St. Jago where he noticed evidence of Charles lyell's theory.
  • Quarrel

    Even though Darwin usually gets along with the captain, he still has a temper thats known as "hot coffee" and the first quarrel broke out early in the voyage at Bahia in Brazil.
  • The Indians.

    Darwin comes about Indians that he sees as "savages"and fears for his life. He brings them back to the british hoping to influence some sort of belief for christianity and change in their behavior, but they returned to their village and remained the same as they were before.
  • Plains of Patagonia

    Darwin rides through the plains of Patagonia discovering old fossils of dead animals that resembled armadillos, anteaters , and sloths. He then thinks to himself if they can be modified descendants.
  • Darwins Connection to Home

    Docked of of Lima, Peru, Darwin catches up on writing to home, while his cousin and close friends write about their materialistic life and newborn child. He is now 4 years into his trip and explains to them how excited he is to continue it.
  • Galapagos

    The captain took his first impression upon the galapagos, as well as Darwin. He observes the birds on the islands, though he never had any great epiphanies on the island, unlike the myth.
  • Religious Zeal

    After hiking in the volcanic mountains, Darwin came across some religious zeal of his guide . From what he had seen on those mountains to what he had seen in New Zealand, he had concluded that the missionary is the enchanted wand.
  • Sydney, Australia

    On the outback of Wast Sydney, Australia Darwin takes notice of how different the marsupials are so different from other mammals in Europe. He then starts to think to himself why does such different animals inhabit different parts of the world
  • Darwin Ends His Voyage

    Darwin is now done with his trip. Over all he is very satisfied with the 3 years he spent on land, and the 18 months he spent over seas. He returns home to his family whom were worried about him giving up his interest in their religion . He explained to them that he has lost no interest in Christianity, and that he is still focused on becoming a great naturalist that he now has the opportunity to do so.
