    Malthus Publishes his idea
Malthus's published his idea called an Essay on the Principles of Population. Malthus's idea was population growth is limited by amount of resources. Which later Malthus's idea would reinforce Darwin's ideas, by making Darwin come up with his own theory of evolution including natural selection.
  • Charles Darwin is Born

    Charles Darwin is Born
If Charles Darwin hadn't been born. The world would still not know as much about evolution or natural selection, or at least wouldn't have as much evidence as it does with Darwin's experiments.
  • Period: to

    Studied at Angelican Shrewsberry School

Darwin attended Agelican Shrewberry school till he was age sixteen. This is where he recieved his early education, that helped become so intelligent later on. At the time though, science was thought to be unhumanitarian. so for 'dabbling' in chemistry Darin was condemmned by his school's headmaster and nichnamed 'Gas' by his peers.

  • The st volume of Princiiples of Geology is Published

The st volume of Princiiples of Geology is Published
Charles Lyell's book Principles of Geology is published. Lyell proposes the idea that fossils are evidence that animals have exised for thousands or millions of years. Darwin read the first volume on his voyage after Captain Fitzroy gives him copy. Darwin's evidence helps prove Lyell's proposal.
  • Period: to

    Voyage of the HMS Beagle

Darwin and his companian, Captain Fitzroy went on a scientific eploration for five years. At the time most europeans believed God created the world in seven days. Darwin on the otherhand wasn't so easly convinced by the word of God. Fitzroy also taught Dariwn advice on preserving carcasses which came in good use when darwin needed to preserve any evidence.
  • Darwin proposes theory of evolution

    Darwin proposes theory of evolution
On Darwin's way back to England he read over Malthus's essay trying to make sense of it using the evidence he had found. He then proposed his own theory of evolution. His theory inclued the idea of Natural Selection, basically 'survival of the fittest.' Meaning animals and plants that have mutations or charestic that help them adapt better will survive and conquer. These charestics are then passed to their offspring, makeing the whole species evolve over time.

  • Annie Dies

    Annie Dies
Darwin's oldest daughter Annie dies from sickness. This makes Darwin loose all faith in Christianity. Which then makes hime dig even deeoer into his work of figuring out evidence for his theory of evolution.
  • Joint Announcement

    Joint Announcement
After twenty years of researching and 'perfecting' his theory Darwin was still skeptical to publish. That was until the young Alfred Russel Wallace had a similar idea and was looking for advice from Darwin before Wallace would publish. Together they then made a joint announcement about their discovery to the the Linnean Society.
  • Darwin Publishes the Orgin of Species

Darwin Publishes the Orgin of Species
Darwin finally publishes ideas and theory of evolution in a book called On The Orgin of Species By Means of Natural Selection. It was greatly controversial, mostly because according to Darwin's theory people concluded that humans, or homo sapians were simply another animal. Which would mean that humans quite possiblymight've evolved from apes. His theory made the church go into a frenzy. The church and their believers attcked Darwin's ideas.
  • Darwin's Death

    Darwin's Death
Charles Darwin died on April 19, 1882. He then was buried Westmiister Abbey.Without him sure the idea of evolution would've came up multiple times, but not as much evidence would be to show for.
