  • The Women's Movement

The Civil Right's Movement was a key factor to the start of the Women's Movement., along with the publishing of "The Feminine Mystique" by Betty Friedan, and Susan Brownmiller's "Against Our Will". A key issue in the movement was prevention of violence against women. They were paid 31 cents less than men, and discriminated in the workplace. A campaign for an Equal Rights amendment into the Constitution was unsuccessful, but successful efforts in the 80's and 90's increased women's rights.
