    Norse Explorers Meet Indigenous Peoples

    Norse explorers met and brought back indigenous peoples culture. They shared stories about these people and created a hope for more to come.

    Rise of Jazz

    Jazz created a culture that many would not forget. Jazz created understanding of people. A culture like non other that bonded people through similar ideas.
  • First nations voting

    Inuit people gained the right to vote in 1950 and First Nations men and women were not allowed to vote until 1960, twenty years after the entire country allowed white women and black men and women to vote.
  • Oka Crisis

    This gave a deeper definition to the word culture. The scary event created a ground for it. The humanism showed throughout the event created a better understanding for the indigenous issues all around the world.

    Cultural rights are, therefore, inseparable from human rights, as recognized in Article 5 of the 2001 UNESCO Declaration on Cultural Diversity. This was making a strong community even stronger.
