Matheiu & Davie get the bubonic plague
Matheiu dies, Davie, near death, but survives. Later on in the book Jamie relates to Tethani, who told him that some of his family members had died from the bubonic plague. Jamie knows how fortunate he is that Davie survived. -

Jamie hears about "savages"
Papa and the villagers tell Jamie about the "savages", which just made him want to see them more. This made him curious about Tethani, starteled, but not scared. -
Jamie meets Tethani
Jamie befriends Tethani and when Jamie hears about the attack, he warns the "savages". Unfortunately, they cannot move somewhere else because of food and resources. -
The attack
Mr. Craven and the villagers attack the "savages", killing most of them. Andrew shoots Tethani and he dies a slow death. This is the climax of the story. It is the most intense part and it builds up to the resolution. -
Copper Sunrise
Jamie sees the copper sunrise and knows that Tethani and his family made it to the west. When the villagers killed all the "savages" they reesolved the problem. They did not have to worry about the attack.
