The transcontiental railroad was esablished for settlers and goods to get from the east of the country out to the west of the country. This boomed after ther finding of gold at Sutters hill in northern California. -

Forced people to treat Native Americans as individuals instead of a member of a tribe. -
Barbed Wire
Farmers used barbed wire fencing to keep animals from escape and keep other creaturesa out. Also they used it to mark there property lines.
