    The Seminole Wars

    The Seminole Wars, otherwise known as the Florida wars, were fought between the native Americans(Seminoles), and white Southerners. There were a total of three Seminole wars fought between them. Each of the wars was started by the Seminole Indians because of the Indian Removal Act. The first war lasted from 1816-1819. The seminoles lost many warriors and had to surrender. The second war was between 1835-1842. The third war lasted for three years. It started in 1855 and ended in 1858.

    This Act forced Indian West or to conform to the ways of the white people. Millions of natives died and others tried to fight back. An example of this is the Floridian Natives.
  • Nat Turner Rebellion

    Nat Turner Rebellion
    Nat Turner, a slave, with seventy other insurrectionists, went around southern plantations and killed many white people. It was approximated that they killed around sixty whites in two days. Local militia was thrown together to end the rebellion. Nat turner and 54 of his followers were tried and executed.

    Texas Revolution

    US citizens start rebelling against Mexico and try to claim Texas for the United States and try to become a state. The Mexican Military sent troops to try and retake Texas but were unsuccessful.

    Battle of the Alamo
    The battle of the Alamo was a battle between American Texans and the Mexican Military. The Battle was a 13 day siege and four day battle starting on February 23, 1836 and went all the way into March 6, 1836. Three American leaders in the siege were James Bowie, Davy Crockett, and William Travis. Although the Texans lost the battle, the loss sparked the push to win the Mexican American war.

    Citizens from slave and free states flood Kansas for their political party. Fighting started breaking out between northerners and southerners over the land. (Bleeding Kansas)

    The Republican Party was started on March 20, 1854 in Ripon WI. This party was started with the goal to get rid of slavery in the south. The Republican Party won the second election they participated in. Abraham Lincoln was elected their president in 1860 causing anger in the south.

    Dedicated anti-slave rioter, John Brown, leads a group of 17 to raid a local armory. This group included both black and white people. They stole both guns and ammunition.
