This is the machine that Charles Babbage designed, but unfortunately, it was never truly and fully created. Charles Babbage was given 17,000 pounds, which in those times was considered a HUGE amount of money, but in the end, Babbage had absolutely no outcome, just the same thing that he had the beginning. The differnece engine was supposed to be a human programmable machine, that could do calculations that would be too advance for those human computers to do.

Long before computers were made, computer was a job, a job for a man or a woman to have a pen and a piece of paper and do calculations. Obviously not the best, because after repetetive working, the job would become tedious, and thats when those people make accidents and mistakes.

Colossus was originally based on Alan Turing's idea of the Universal Machine. With the help from Alan Turning, Tommy Flowers succeeded in creating Colossus. Colossus was used to decode german codes that were too advance for the technology that they had. Using Colossus, the British immediately decoded the German Lorenz Cipher, which was the major german code. This machine pretty much helped the British to win the war.
