    Greenspire Perspire
    The Greenspire Perspire was a fundraiser that Greenspire held. It was a two mile race that was open to the public. Runners paid $25 to participate. If you were 10 years or under the race was free. Runners also got a free T-shirt.
  • Anti-Bullying Project Visits 7&4

    Anti-Bullying Project Visits 7&4
    Reeli Threet and Grace Loftus visited 7&4 news to talk about their anti-bullying Peace Jam project. The two girls had started the project in reaction to bullying in Michigan and were planning to visit schools in the Traverse City area to perform skits and show videos on how to stand up to bullying.

    STEM Night is an event hosted at The Greenspire School where families from all over Traverse City participate in fun science, math, engineering, and technology themed activities.
  • Canstruction

    Canstruction
    Canstruction is an event that uses cans to build structures. The reason for this is to raise awareness of hunger. The Greenspire School participated in this event at the Grand Traverse Mall in the winter of 2013. They built three spires out of cans.
  • Chilli Cook Off

    Chilli Cook Off
    The TGS Chilli Cook Off was a very enjoyable and successful event. Families went sledding, ate many different types of chilli, drank hot chocolate, sat near a fire, and went on night hikes in the woods. They also snow shoed through the woods. This event has happened twice at Greenspire and hopefully will happen again in 2015. It was a fun event.
  • Keepers of Kids Creek

    Keepers of Kids Creek
    The Keepers of Kids Creek was a project where the students of Greenspire took the members of the community on a detailed tour through the Commons woods. The students taught people about the environment and the animals that live in it. Some of the topics include species management, timber harvesting and reforestation practices. Over all the Greenspire school felt very good about giving the community a chance to explore our beautiful Commons.
  • 2014 Chilli Cook-Off

    The 2014 chilli cook-off was a event at Greenspire. Parents or students would bring in homemade chilli, which would be sampled by everyone who wished to try it. When not eating chilli, people attending had the opportunity to go sledding on the Greenspire hill. Later on students from the previous year led a night hike through the woods. Then at the end of the event votes were counted and the winner of the best chili was given a prize.
  • Digital Arts Lab Fundraiser

    Digital Arts Lab Fundraiser
    Greenspire had a fundraiser for thier future Digital Arts Lab.`The money was used to buy equigment for making films, podcasts, and other great projects. This was a great addition to Greenspire School. It will help students strengthen their knowledge of technology, and will help students build websites with ease. They could also edit a slideshow for a science project.
  • Movers for Moms

    In May 2014, Greenspire collected things that included clothes and baby products for single moms. Two large bins were filled by the end of the collection and were donated to Two Men and a Truck, a company that runs a program called Movers for Moms.
  • Blackbird Arts

    Blackbird Arts has done a lot for The Greenspire School. The school has been doing projects with Blackbird since 2013. They have done everything from helping students painting a bench with local artist Glenn Wolff to teaching metal working classes. This year (2015) we are looking forward to upcoming art classes.
  • Meals on Wheels Bag Coloring

    Meals on Wheels Bag Coloring
    Greenspire teamed up with the charity Meals on Wheels. Students colored on paper bags given to the people who need meals to cheer them up a little bit. The people in the program barely see anyone else but the people that bring them their meals every day. The students drew pictures, funny phrases, or inspirational quotes.
  • FTC League Competition

    FTC League Competition
    The First Tech Challenge League is a robot competition! Students build a robot and try to get blocks into a basket. This competition helped our students learn about good sportsmanship and how to act fairly and nicely. Its also community outreach because the competitions are sponsored by organizations.
  • The Harvest Dinner

    The Harvest Dinner
    The Harvest Dinner was a fundraiser that adults could attend at Greenspire School on October 10th, 2014. Guest had a nice dinner, wine tasting, and participated in a silent auction. The students at Greenspire made scale models of seating in the Maple Building during math class to make sure all the people would fit. The students with the best layout would have their design as the setup for Maple.
  • The Haunted Forest

    The Haunted Forest
    On October 25, 2014, the first Haunted Forest Walk took place in the Commons. Family Friendly time was 5:30 - 6:30 and from 6:30 to 8:30 the real haunting began. Customers had to watch out for cannibals, zombies and screamers and make sure they weren’t being followed by stalkers. Greenspire raised $805 total from the Haunted Forest and profits went towards a fun field trip for the school.
  • The Giving Season

    The Giving Season
    The Greenspire School collected toys, clothes, and food to give to charities like the Father Fred Foundation. The school raised thousands of dollars from events like, the Desert Smash, a canned food drive, a change collection, toy drive, and clothing drive. In the clothing drive, the goal was to get a thousand clothes. Students surpassed the goal by a lot! Another goal was to get a ton of toys, which was also surpassed.
  • Desert Smash

    The Desert Smash was a fundraiser the students of Greenspire put on to raise money for the Father Fred Foundation. At this fundraiser there were lots of delicious desserts and live music. There was a suggested donation of five dollars. In the end this fundraiser was able to raise five hundred dollars for the Father Fred Foundation.
  • Homeless Night

    Homeless Night was a fundraiser to raise awareness of homelessness in our region. The students of Greenspire spent the night at the school, you could sleep outside or inside. The Greenspire school raised $3,363 that night. Half of the money earned went to the Father Fred Foundation. This was a fun experience for all the students.
  • Narcissus

    Narcissus
    TThe Greenspire School has been selling narcissus bulbs since the year 2012. The lucky people in gardening class fill clear containers with small round gravel, that they put in three bulbs on top. A week or two later the plants were about to flower. It was time to sell them. This event takes place in the farmers market held in Building Fifty.
