    August 12, 1492 Columbus Discovers the New World
    Columbus "discovers" the the "New" world (though without realizing it) and sets up a colony on the island he named Hispaniola. This event sets off a chain of events regarding the Columbian Exchange between the Americas, Africa, and Europe.

    Conquer of the Incas (Potato Discovery)
    1536 Spanish Conquistadors conquered Peru they then discovered the potato which then was carried to Europe. There it thrived because of the high altitude and cold climate similar to the Andes mountains. These became a staple crop for many European poor families and share croppers during the following centuries.

    Jamestown Establishment (1st permanent settlement)
    This was the first settlement made by English Europeans marking it as the beginning of multiple colonies spreading out along the east coast of what is now known as the United States. John Smith took leadership in the settlement, but when he left they fell short without his leadership and though many died some survived the time without him and Algonquian Indians attacking them(but also trading with them) they were successful as the first settlement.

    The British began trading slaves from Africa to the Caribbean for work in the sugar plantations but this then led to them also being transferred to the Americas. This was one of the worst effects of the columbian exchange. This led up until the late 1800's.

    A movement toward average personal spirituality from ritual that not only impacted the American colonies but also Protestant Europe and British America. This movement greatly impacted people already within the church. It also began first in New England moving to other colonies and then across the Atlantic.

    This war between the British and the American colonies was the beginning of the separation of America as it's own country. This war was begun because of the excessive taxing done on imports to America by Britain to the American Colonies. The American Colonies become the first self governing in the new world.

    This famine killed many Irish by starvation and caused many more to immigrate to America from Ireland. The original home of the potato was the new world and it was then carried over by the Spanish to Europe through the columbian exchange. This famine lasted to 1851.

    In 1851, London hosted the 1st World’s Fair
    Also known as the Great London Exposition. Was the first world fair and included the entire world (28 countries to be exact) at the expo England hosted people from all over the world shared ideas and new inventions from the plentiful industry the world had at the time.
